As part of its current Strategic Plan (SP 8.1), the University is mandated to operationalise interdisciplinary RESEARCH CLUSTERS before the end of 2012.

These clusters have been the subject of considerable discussion across the University with most stakeholders acknowledging their value, particularly the value of having interdisciplinary research clusters which are inclusive(particularly of early-career staff and postgraduate students) and focused on key challenges facing the Pacific Islands region.

The Research Office is pleased to announce that the University now has six fully-functioning Research Clusters led by the crème de la crème of USP academia.

It is envisioned that the clusters will be catalytic in enhancing the University’s status as a centre for research excellence, producing quality research that is relevant to the needs and challenges faced by member countries.
